LDN Singer Hates TXT SPK

Turns out Lily Allen hates text speak.
She tells British magazine Marie Claire, “I get upset about how illiterate young people are becoming. The other day, someone texted me in that f—ing text speak without any vowels; I got so annoyed, I replied just in vowels.”
Not quite sure where the change of hearts come from […]

2007’s Top Albums

I sat down to write this a few hours ago, and I’ve just decided I’m finished. Its like to back to the future, writing the beginning last, after I already wrote what comes next. I’ve put this list of 10 albums (plus one honourable mention) in no discernible order. Everything is here on merit, not […]

Alexisonfire/Saosin @ Leeds Met

It never fails to amaze me how hype and acclaim can break a band into the big time - largely its down to luck. Take Four Year Strong, whose release this year easily matched the debut long player from Set Your Goals….. one bands toured Europe twice and hyped to high heaven everywhere, the other […]

Pour Habit - Suiticide

The best way to descibe Pour Habit, is by explaining who you’d imagine to be in the band - the vocals are pure Offspring, imagine Dexter Holland at his early best, and musically there are shades of Smash… the rythm section though sounds like its been holed up listening to the entire back catalogue of […]

OiNK Shutdown

The music industry needs to learn from this. Yes OiNK was used for piracy but one of the major factors in its success was a total lack of a viable legitimate alternative. OiNK was able to offer a library far greater than its legitimate rivals in better quality with a better interface, faster downloads and […]

Farewell - Isn’t This Supposed To Be Fun?

Being released by Epitaph this month. Synths. Sugary sweet melodies. Powerchord power pop. Soaring chorus. Lyrics about robots. Motion City Soundtrack? No its Farewell and given the previous short 6 sentances they’ll suffer. Because ultimately, although this album is an entirely different prospect to the latest MCS LP, it will inevitably be lumped alongside them.
Tracks […]

Smoke Or Fire + 1bit Audio Player

So a good friend of mine has written a really handy Wordpress plugin (well, its a lot more than a Wordpress plugin actually, but thats how i use it. It can be tailored to any website) called 1bit Audio Player.
1 Bit Audio Player is a very simple and lightweight Adobe Flash MP3 player with […]

Saves The Day

I can’t wait until the new Saves The Day album - the two new songs on their myspace are corkers, and possibly signs of their best album yet. They’ve defiantely found a new wind recently, and I’m stoked.
More importantly, the artwork looks amazing. The cover art (below) looks like the best album art I’ve […]
