About
I’ve written about 20 different “About Me” pages - all of which haven’t quite done me justice.
Since writing 19 of them i read an interesting article about how prospective employers often google candidates for a job, in order to glean more informal infomation about them…. As Craig Sweeney comments in the article:
“The thing to remember is what might make your friends giggle today could come back and haunt you a couple of years down the line when you’re trying to land your dream job.”
Which means I’m probably in trouble. Kieran Delaney isn’t the most common name, and I’m the first person to sign up for the latest web craze. You’ve probably already found the links on the left to my Facebook, Flickr, Myspace and Last.fm. Facebook and Myspace say nothing, everyone has one - myspace is responsible for nothing but eye boggling colour schemes and bad haircuts, whilst Facebook is trying to steal an unfair amount of my time catching up with people i haven’t caught up with for 5 years and am likely to never bump into again.
Flickr is something different. Social Networking in a very loose sense, you can “watch” people and make “friends” - its all about the photos. Photography has been a big part of my life since i first picked up a camera 7 years ago at the age of 15. As i have taken more and more, and become more experimental, so i have developed my photographic style - casual, informal shots trying to capture as much natural emotion (with people) as possible or abstract, punchy, loud images - always with a message or a story.
The other massive part of my life is music. I’m embroiled in a constant hunt for new bands, of almost any genre. Although if i had to pick, the Punk and Hardcore genres are where my heart lie. Last.fm contains a record of every track I’ve played (nearly anyway) since i signed up, and shows my top artists, tracks and albums etc. The best thing about Last.fm is it gives you suggestions for bands you might like based on other users submissions. It also lists “musical neighbours” although i don’t have enough time to catch up with my real friends, let alone make new ones with spikey haired kids across the pond.
The biggest part of my life is Shelley Clarkson. We’ve just bought a house in Osbaldwick, York and the future starts here.
