I’m surprised by the reaction to Arsenal’s 4-0 victory on Wednesday, we played well against Twente, but lets face it they made us look good. Its not quite the return to form that some are heralding. Especially as only a quarter of the goals were scored by a striker, it poses some more questions rather than delivering a straight answer. Still, Arsenal may well turn it around I just can’t see us looking that good against a team that actually presses us and manages to make more than 1 successful pass an hour.
And I’m pretty sure this group will see the most travelling out of all the Champions League groups, given England is one side of ‘Europe’ and Turkey/Russia are the other. Its a group of death in as much as 6-8 hour flights book ending 90 minutes of football surrounded by away trips to Bolton and Blackburn all within 7 days isn’t exactly going to be a walk in the park with our slim squad.
Still, I suppose we’ll have to have faith!
