Arsenal 0 - Juventus 1
Emirates Cup time again this season and we just finished watching yesterdays match - a couple of things I’ve been thinking about. How the fuck does Eboue get in the team? I counted two good touches/passes and 94 losses of the ball. He’s fast and can control the ball, and then he runs straight into the nearest mass of defenders. Every time. And when he doesn’t run into defenders he kicks it at his teammates as hard as he can ten feet behind them. Appalling.

Apart from that, Jack Wilshire is looking every inch the legend he’s been talked up to be. Brilliant composure for a 16 year old against one of the biggest teams in Europe. Bring on Wigan! Aaron Ramsey looked good too but was slightly overshadowed, I’d like to see more of him today against Madrid and we’ve got tickets for Arsenal/Huddersfield on Wednesday so I’m hoping to see the youngtsers again.
I was worried after the loss of Flamini (couldn’t give a shit about Hleb though) about how we’d present a decent midfield, but both Diaby and Denilson look to have improved over the summer and either one looks like they could fit alongside little Cesc. Not to mention Ramsey who knows what its like in a scrap (Cardiff don’t play the most glamourous clubs) and has the experience that a full season and FA Cup run can provide.
Anyway, it was unlucky for the boys to go down to an offside goal, but equally a few chances aside Arsenal didn’t look like they were going to cut Juventus to ribbons - Juventus played magnificantly in defence, although with a point on offer for every goal its dissapointing that they didn’t abandon the Italian league effort and try to attack rather than stifling the Arsenal kids. Its almost like they feared getting beat…
A good game though and one that fills me with hope - all on a net profit in the transfer market as well. How much have tottenham paid in the last 10 years in pursuit of Arsenal? £100m?
