Burnout Paradise

So I completed Burnout Paradise yesterday. Well when i say completed, I beat all the races and other events…. but I’m still only 70% of the way through! I’ve never played a game thats kept me so utterly engrossed before. Its the only game I’ve played pretty much for weeks, especially after i got fed up with the boring linear Resistance Fall of Man. Don’t get me wrong, RFoM is great in small doses, but once i completed it I’d had enough. There was nothing to pull me back, especially as the ridiculous difficulty curve of playing online meant I wasted quite a lot of time just getting repeatedly shot up.

Burnout’s different - i keep wanting to go back and redo the stunt runs. I want to own all of the roads. I want to destroy entire chunks of intersection.

The only annoying thing about the game is the once excellent soundtrack has began to get tired after hearing every song 6,000 times. Sony really need to pull it together and give us in game XMB so i can make some proper driving music playlists….

Anyway I found these maps which should help me edge ever closer to the magic 100%….

It would seem, that according to http://www.ps3news.com
that we ps3 owners may never get ingame custom soundtracks, as it is patented by Microsoft for both ther Cockbox and Cockbox 360 gayming systems!
however im sure the clever people at Sony will try and find a way around this, as once XMB bar is supported in game. Which comes with the next update hopefully, then they could be ‘powerless’ to stop us accessing our music?

who knows
id like to…..

I know the new PSN store is coming this month, and there will be another update to coincide with the launch. It would be brilliant if they did it all at once, like “BOOM”.

Microsoft have patented games accessing your media from inside the game (like GTA IV will apparently tune the radio into a playlist if you want it to on the 360) but they can’t really stop you playing music yourself through the XMB at the same time as a game.

Criterion have clearly stated that they have the code ready to silence ingame music as soon as Sony release in game XMB so its looking good.

Yes, indeed the GTA IV thing is true for the 360 however you can access the 360 dashboard by pressing the middle button then choose music directly from there. Including of your ipod by hooking it upo with your PC USB lead, that is wicked you can access all the artists and everything. Thats a nice touch, when it works, firsthand I have seen it fail 3 or 4 times on Crackdown however, that would be a nice touch for the PS3, because at the moment you can only access your ipod music through the system files and nothing is set up properly. So hopefully they will bring that in as well in an upcoming firmware update??

But anyway, I like the GTA radio stations anyway, their normally pretty good, especially the talk shows, always funny.

How can you patent that though? Its like saying i can’t play cd’s in my car or on the pc whilst doing something else. The whole point of next gen consoles is the ability to interact and multitask.

I have no idea but they definately did, something within the Xbox and Xbox 360 which is patented for all games. But yeh Sony will get round it.
Also got COD4 yesterday and have completed it this morning, once again incredibly short yet stunning sngle player campaign and as i have no internet no multiplayer for me. However cant wait till GTA IV comes out im so getting that. SO MANY GAMEPLAY HOURS!
