My New TV Is Better Than You

Well it probably will be once it arrives, I bought it from the internet you see. Why pay £1499 in a shop like the massively overcharging rip off merchants (who funnily enough are a customer service free type of outlet) Curry’s when you can buy online for £1000 delivered? Two thirds of the price? It was surely meant to be!

The only trouble is obviously i have to wait for delivery and stuff, but to be honest I’m not certain the “take it home now and open the box and throw the instructions out of the window” feeling is worth £500 large.

Also this whole spending massive money thing has opened the door to ultra TV geekdom.

We plumped for a 1080p LCD set. Not 1080i, or 720p or even 720i. Obviously 560i/p was old news. Even then the choice of OLED (Well not this year), LCD or Plasma was irritating. Why can’t they make one type of TV and charge me 20p (as in pence not pixels)?

We plumped for the “Full High Definition” experience mainly because we download a lot of TV and Movies (legally of course) and our shiny Mac Book Pro outputs 1080p resolution with glorius ease. I’m looking forward to watching the latest TV in better quality than the sad sacks who pay Sky an extra £10 a month for “High Definition”. Don’t make me laugh with your inferior detail!

Also, we went LCD because plasma seems a little less well defined, and cost aside plasma seems to offer no other benefits. When it comes to cost v detail, i personally don’t see the point in paying all that money for a fuzzy set. You might as well pay the little bit extra and get a high definition picture where peoples faces don’t become one giant on screen flesh bubble.
