Ikea - What a bag of arse.
Don’t get me wrong - the desk we bought is really cool. Solid and sturdy, it even comes with cross supports to stop the sides spreading like the splits. The problem was, it took three trips to actually get it. The first one, where we choose it “hhmm, ya, look lovely in a home study that will, ya”, we also found it wasn’t in stock. The second time, where we went back to get it, oh its not back in stock yet. Two weeks later.
So finally, we says to ourselves, third time lucky! Off we troop, as early as humanely possible to beat the chintz chucking morons who seem liable at any time to form a human chain around the doors or passageways and in we go.
Ikea finally seem to have the overpriced lump of chipboard (oak veneer au natural) back in stock, so things are looking up. Now - only thing left is to pick up the remaining two shelves. See we bought 6 floating shelves, turns out that we actually wanted 8 - we couldn’t know that though until the gimp downstairs moved out.
Guess what - they didn’t have the shelves in stock! Now - i might be being stupid but they’ve managed to have something out of stock everytime we’ve gone that we wanted. Judging by the angry faces on Sunday, we weren’t the only ones. Now all that space you think they’d at least have some spares? The guy on the floor said “yeah we always run out its the most popular thing wot we sell”. Great, ORDER SOME MORE THEN! Anticipate the demand with supply!
Anyway - the Dime Bar cake is amazing, so at least there is a positive to driving all the way to the other side of Leeds again.
