Spell With Flickr
Posted by Kieran - 08/09/07 at 08:09:12 amI love playing with imagery, and this is one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen to access the Flickr API yet. Spell With Flickr is a php/java “tool” that allows you to spell out any word with photos taken from the multitudes hosted on Flickr. All you need to do is type in the word you want to form - as easy as that. Click on any letter to change it for another image until you are happy with what you got and copy the code that is generated for you.
So whilst its cool to spell out your name, or random insults… it does get slightly old after a few minutes. But then simplicity is effective in small doses.
Saves The Day
Posted by Kieran - 07/09/07 at 12:09:55 amI can’t wait until the new Saves The Day album - the two new songs on their myspace are corkers, and possibly signs of their best album yet. They’ve defiantely found a new wind recently, and I’m stoked.
More importantly, the artwork looks amazing. The cover art (below) looks like the best album art I’ve seen in a long time, a great (simple) long exposure.

Another New Start - Bye Bye Darken
Posted by Kieran - 06/09/07 at 02:09:11 pmEver since I signed up for hosting with DarkenHosting i got the horrendous feeling I’d made a massive mistake.Turns out you get what you pay for - slightly less than fuck all in Darkens case. Tech support consists of one person who never answers emails, the server was down nearly a quarter of the time and my email played up no end.
I’ve moved to Dreamhost now though, so hopefully things will be better going forward. I’ve even got a new domain - kierandelaney.net
The main spur for me moving was the darkenhosting server disappearing - one month later i managed to get a reply out of the shady cocks, the server has been confiscated by the police. Brilliant. They obviously didn’t bother letting any of their customers know, because that would be efficient and sensible. And then what happened? It took another month to wrestle back my domain. Avoid at all costs.
